Ersoy Fabrics

Clients

Dear Customers,

Fabric constitutes the important part of decoration. It is quite troublesome to reverse, once it has been decided upon and applied. When making a choice, in addition to color and pattern, it is also important that it is long lasting. Either for upholstery or curtaining, maintaining the durability depends especially on fabric care. Cleaning with wrong materials, washing, dry cleaning or ironing without paying attention to instructions, will Shorthorn the fabric’s life.

Therefore, as “Ersoy Fabrics”, we believe that the Instructions for Use we prepared to inform our dear customers will be useful.

Choice and Cut of Fabric

The most important rule to get a good result in fabric and secure durability is to choose fabric fit for use. The information necessary for this is usually found on fabric labels. If this is not available, authorized people should be consulted. While choosing upholstery fabric; when fabric amount is being estimated, pattern repetition should be taken into consideration, also side foldings and shrinkage should be thought of. Shrinkage of fabric shows difference with regard to the humidity and heat change in the air. Part dyed and thread dyed fabrics should be cut along the width by following a weft thread. In the cutting of printed fabrics, knit should not be taken into consideration, pattern should be followed.

General Care

Dust and chemicals in the air damage fabric. Therefore, fabric care should be done regularly. Cleaning of upholstery and curtain fabrics (washing and dry cleaning) should be done in accordance with given instructions. Dry cleaning should be preferred on fabrics without Washable sign.

Our fabric is manufactured with high standards, therefore they are resistant to sunlight. However, all fabrics discolor in time. Dark colors especially discolor faster compared to others. Therefore, this possibilty should be considered while making a choice and instead of choosing dark colors for well lit places, light colors that have less discoloring possibility should be preferred.

If the fabric contains acrylic fiber, there should be a clear warning for dry cleaning. Permanent damage can occur when temperature passes over 40 degrees. Sensitive process sign should be taken into consideration.

Upholstery Fabric Care

Cleaning of upholstery fabric can be done by regular brushing or by gently dusting off with a vacuum cleaner. Special upholstery fabric detergents should be preferred to eliminate dirt, strong powder detergents or chlorine materials should not be used. To remove stain, a high quality soap or appropriate cleaning material should be used; it is important not to wet the fabric too much and not to damage it during stain removal. Fabrics with stain resistant and fire resistant properties absolutely should not be washed, dry cleaning methods should be applied proper to instructions. It is important that upholstery fabrics do not get direct contact with sunlight.

Cleaning Suggestions

A stain is local “dirt” that affects fabric threads in the form of coloring matter, appearing on a specific part of fabric. Stains can appear in various shapes, so can the characteristic of the stain. For this reason, which process to follow for which staind and which fabric should be known and the right method should be applied.

The cleaning suggestions given below will be helpful for you during the removal of possible stains from your product.

General Cleaning Suggestions

  • Do not leave your product stained. Almost all stains can be removed when they first appear, and not left to dry. Contact with heat, light and air will fix the stain and make it harder to be removed. Even the most difficult stains are easy to remove when fresh.
  • Take action in case of spillage of staining material (water, tea, food etc.) on your product. Clean the liquid material by soaking it with an absorbent cloth or paper towel, and remove the solid material without damaging the fabric. If stain remains on fabric, clean it according to the instructions on product labels with “Cleaning Suggestions based on Fabric Type”.
  • Test all mixtures to be used for the cleaning process on a non visible part of the fabric. Apply the mixture on fabric and press on it with a white towel. After waiting 20 seconds, if the color of fabric did not transfer to the towel and problems such as fuzziness on fabric, discoloring did not appear, you can use the mixture; if otherwise, do not use the mixture. Some fabrics are sensitive due to their special designs. The cleaning of these types of fabrics should be done delicately. A trial on a non visible part of the fabric will give you an idea about it.
  • Clean the dust that can appear on your product before they turn into stains. Any kind of liquid spillage on product (even clean water can make the same effect) can cause dust on product to form stains. Clean possible stains formed according to the instructions on product labels with “Cleaning Suggestions based on Fabric Type”.
  • Do not use hard substances, chemical materials, soft soap, or bleachers like chlorine for cleaning.
  • Do not clean by wetting, soaking, brushing the fabric.
  • Do not use iron for drying and do not leave the product under sunlight.
  • Absolutely do not dry clean if there is no Suitable for Drycleaning label or sign. Make sure the process is correctly applied on fabrics Suitable for Drycleaning. Wrong application of Drycleaning process can damage your fabric.

  • Wipe the liquid (tea, coffee etc.) on the leather completely with the help of an absorbent piece of cloth or paper towel.
  • Prepare warm soapy water and make foam. Lightly dampen a soft piece of cloth with the prepared water. Take the foam with cloth and clean the stain in circular motions (do not pour the soapy water directly on the stained area, apply the foam that is formed on the water to the fabric). Make sure the cloth you will use for cleaning is not fuzzy and coloring.
